Position : Network Operations Engineer
One of my top Audio Visual online clients are looking for a new Network Operations engineer to join the team, they operate a production network for the delivery of live and on demand audio/video content over the Internet. The successful candidate will function as part of a newly-formed team that will monitor and manage this production network and ensure that the highest possible quality of service is delivered to our customers.
Duties & responsibilities will include:
"To monitor the performance of our broadcast service (including the production network and any third party component services) and instigate actions, which will ensure that the relevant KPI's are achieved.
"To provide support (including front line support) for all network issues, customer technical problems and service-related customer queries.
"To correctly identify failures in the production network and work with other team members (either remotely or on site as appropriate) to devise and implement solutions.
"To work with other team members to develop and enhance procedures for preventative maintenance in the network, designed to reduce the number of network issues.
"To participate in the planning, design and implementation of any developments to or expansion of the production network.
The company requires a blend of I.T. skills across the team, so it is anticipated that candidates though possessing a mix of skills may have a bias towards either the systems or networking disciplines. That notwithstanding, the successful applicants will have some or all of the following:
"A minimum of 3-4 years experience in a Network/I.T. role, with particular exposure to Internet delivery
"Excellent all-round IT skills in particular Windows Server
"Thorough understanding of networks in general and of TCP/IP and the Internet in particular
"Excellent knowledge of firewalls, routers, switches etc.
"A working knowledge of broadcast equipment and general audio/video equipment
"Degree in I.T. or relevant discipline and/or relevant Cisco qualifications
The successful candidate will also be expected to demonstrate:

"Co-operative teamwork skills
"A desire to develop new skills
"The ability to initiate and follow through on tasks and improvements of varying levels of complexity
