We are looking for a friendly, pro-active and organised person to be our Housing Officer, with responsibility for processing, via a database system, housing applications and allocations, and to work closely with both the Housing Officer (Undergraduate & Specialist Groups) and the Housing Officer (Postgraduate & Families).
The post is based within the small, friendly, busy, and efficient University Housing Office and supports the Housing Services Manager in the administration of new housing applications and allocations, together with supporting relationships with internal and external partners to deliver a high quality and coordinated Housing Service.
You will join the Housing Service at an exciting time for student accommodation at University of Sussex (US), as we continue to up-date and expand our housing portfolio and work with a range of partners to continue strive for excellence in our service.
You will be a key user of the University’s residential database system, StarRez, and works with the Housing Services Manager to champion its usage across the team in the efficient allocation of accommodation and charging for 5,030 (and increasing) bed-spaces throughout the year, together with taking steps to minimise voids and maximise income.
Students from over 150 countries live with US annually. Good customer service skills are vital and you will need to have a good standard of education, together with excellent organisational, communication and customer service skills.
You will need to maintain high levels of accuracy, attention to detail and be approachable. Experience of using Social Media (e.g. Facebook), Microsoft Office, and databases is also essential, as is a good telephone and email manner.
The Housing Office is extremely busy, so you will need to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, remain calm, be reliable and demonstrate excellent time management skills. You will be supported by a dedicated and friendly team committed to improving the experience of living with US.
