Who we are looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Corporate Tax team in Norwich, part of the South East region which also includes offices in Uxbridge, Reading, Southampton, Cambridge, St Albans and Gatwick.

Primarily the candidate will be working in our Norwich office but it may be necessary for the candidate to work in the Cambridge office from time to time depending on our business needs.

The Norwich tax team has a diverse a range of clients which affords the successful candidate a truly exceptional opportunity to develop their career and gain experience across a broad range of commercial and technical projects in a dynamic market place.

Excellent client handling skills and team working skills are a pre requisite for the role.

The successful applicant will be ACA or CTA qualified (or equivalent).

About the role

The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Proactively managing a portfolio of clients and generally working to Managers and above.

Establishing effective working relationships with appropriate levels of client Staff.

Being proactively involved in the financial management of the client.

Ensuring client contact data is kept up-to-date on internal systems.

Sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues.

Building a network of contacts through regular attendance at internal and external meetings.

Keeping up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and in the firm's products and services.

Keeping up-to-date with local and national business and economic issues that might potentially impact on clients and /or their industry.

The successful candidate will have day-to-day responsibility for managing on-going client relationships, winning and developing work across all aspects of tax as well as undertaking one-off advisory projects.

The individual will have a key client facing role within the team. In addition, the individual will have an active role in managing junior resource.

The Norwich team offers the opportunity to work on a challenging and varied client portfolio. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to develop deeper knowledge in particular areas and will be encouraged to use this knowledge to develop business for the team.

Additional information

Amount of time office based: 90%

Amount of time at client sites: 10%

Need to travel/overnight stays away from home: Occasional, depending on client projects.

Requirements

The requirements for the role are as follows:
Essential

Qualified ACA / CTA (or equivalent);

Up to date UK Corporate Tax experience;

A strong academic background;

Relevant experience gained ideally in an accountancy / legal firm;

A commitment to continuing to enhance technical and other knowledge and skills;

Willingness to take on new and challenging work;

Risk awareness;

Excellent team player

Strong client handling skills;

Good communication skills;

Self-motivation; and

Good organisational and people skills.

Desirable

Some exposure to tax planning work although it is anticipated that you may have had a mainly compliance background to date.
