PRISON CUSTODY OFFICERS
SALARY: £25,800 + £500 after 2yrsinc London Weighting per annum FULL TIME
LOCATION: HMP/YOI Bronzefield, Ashford, Middlesex
Kalyx is a business with a social purpose operating four prisons throughout the UK, providing custody with care for male and female prisoners and young offenders. We train and educate prisoners for resettlement and provide opportunities for their rehabilitation on release from prison.
HMP Bronzefield opened in 2004 and it is the only privately managed purpose-built prison for women in the UK. Bronzefield holds a wide range of female offenders, including remand, sentenced and restricted status women. It also has a 12 bed Mother and Baby Unit, accommodating children up to 18 months old.
The purpose of this role is to maintain a safe and secure environment where male and female prisoners are treated with decency, dignity and respect, and are encouraged to identify and address their offending behaviour.
The key element to this role is to provide a quality of service that is of a high standard, professional and courteous.
Key aspects of the post:
To provide a quality of service that is of a high standard, professional and courteous.
To work to and maintain all systems and procedures relevant to ensuring the effective operation of the Prison.
To work to and Respond to all Contingency Plans required for the maintenance of Security and Control.
Work within and operate all Security Systems and to maintain a safe and secure environment.
To work under direct supervision of SPCO / Duty Officer.
To comply with any reasonable request deemed necessary by management to maintain the efficient operation at the Prison.
To undertake daily duties as required that will contribute to the effective operation of HMP Bronzefield.
To contribute to ensuring that Prisoners have access to purposeful activities that meet the individual needs and welfare of women in secure setting.
To carry out departmental duties and services to Prisoners in accordance with the Prison Regime, Policy and Procedures.
To contribute to the safe and decent management of the Prisoners residential areas.
Perform the duties of a personal officer and play an active role in the custody / sentence management arrangements for your case board.
Experience in custodial services is an advantage, but not essential. A desire to make a difference in helping people turn their lives around is much more important. A nine week fully paid local training course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to undertake your new role.
We offer both full time and part time opportunities.
Pre-Selections for this role will take place on 6th and 7th April 2011 between 10:00 - 14:00hrs.
Interviews will be held week commencing 11th April 2011, Training Course commences 6th June for nine weeks, no annual leave will be honored during this time.
The Closing date for this position is Wednesday 30th March 2011.
