Training

Training to be Provided

The Apprentice will be allocated an Assessor who visits them in the workplace approx every 4 weeks. Visits will include 1 to 1 sessions, observation of the learner working and these form part of the assessment and feedback process.

The Apprenticeship is made up of the following components:
1. NVQ Certificate - this is the practical based component where the apprentice demonstrates that they have the skills and knowledge to meet the required national standard

2. Technical Certificate- this is the knowledge-based component and is assessed either by a series of online tests, written assignments or a practical assessment

Throughout an Apprenticeship a College Skills Adviser will be able to support and guide you. They will work with you to: Help you decide which Apprenticeship is right for you Explain the way that Apprenticeships might work for you and the different options available Assist you with finding an employer Agree a training plan with you and your employer Visit your workplace to review progress of learning towards your Apprenticeship. Manage the training and evaluation Ensure that national quality standards are met and deliver integrated, coherent training

From 1st October 2013 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is per hour. This will rise to as of 1st October 2014. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
