The Baby & Parenting Essentials (B&PE) division of Newell Rubbermaid is the second largest baby gear (car seats, strollers, swings, high chairs) business in the world, with leadership brands in a wide range of geographies: Graco in North America, teutonia in Germany, Aprica in Japan. These three brands are currently distributed within the overall Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, allowing B&PE EMEA to be one of the largest players in the region. The Baby & Parenting Essentials Global Business Unit is looking at EMEA as a key driver of its long term growth.

MAIN PURPOSE / GOAL OF THE JOB

To execute engineering responsibilities focused on delivering new infant/juvenile products and product derivatives. Lead cross functional strategic product teams to design new products from concept ideation to manufacture using a gating milestone process. The main purpose of this role is to collaborate cross functionally with industrial design, marketing and other key business functions to drive successful new product development, provide value added enhancements to the end user, and facilitate sustaining engineering for infant/juvenile product platforms. Individual must be capable of managing projects that are designed and developed by outside suppliers in Asia. Responsible for measuring and documenting that the project meets the consumer needs and the business expectations.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Program management responsibility for New product launches and category initiatives. This will require management across functions, including global Engineering teams, Marketing, supply chain and external partners. Ultimately responsible for on time, on cost and to performance.

EMEA Engineering leader for the category, working closely with the global resource team. This will include establishing priorities and managing category needs on a daily basis.

Lead the consumer driven innovation process for the category. This will include timely reviews, training of team members and adherence to the process

Originate new ideas to improve performance and cost for both new and existing products

International travel to support program initiatives. This will include working closely with our sourcing partners and coordination between multiple regions.

Initiate and implement new ways to improve the business efficiency and reduce cost via productivity and streamlining.

A category expert. Build the experience and expertise to contribute strategically to the future growth opportunities for EMEA

Qualifications

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Recognized Engineering degree. MBA would be an advantage

5 years in a focused program management environment.

5 - 10 years Engineering experience in Consumer / Industrial hard-goods industry

Able to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group, network, influence and utilize internal and external resources

Flexibility to travel in line with business needs
