Job Scope
Support TfL’s engagement with key London Rail stakeholders by delivering the stakeholder engagement plan and through responding to enquiries and MQT’s in relation to London Rail business areas, updating the Stakeholder Network as required and preparing communications and publicity materials in conjunction with the London Rail operators.
The job holder will maintain good working relationships with their counterparts in stakeholder organisations and work collaboratively with senior managers and operational colleagues within London Rail modes, other communications and engagement colleagues in TfL and Public Affairs.
Key Accountabilities
Support the Senior Stakeholder Manager – Rail in the implementation of the stakeholder communications and engagement plan for London Rail modes
Attend relevant business meetings to keep abreast of business needs and issues and ensure these are reflected in/supported by stakeholder communications
Develop and implement stakeholder and passenger communications plans for all infrastructure work and planned engineering work, including leading the delivery through the London Rail contractors and operators
Assist the TfL Press Office in media handling on behalf of London Rail
Coordinate with the Marketing team to manage London Rail’s presence on the TfL website providing relevant content aimed at stakeholders and develop plans to support all integrated marketing and communications activity
Develop and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders including MP’s, Assembly Members, Local Authorities, GLA and User Groups as well as TfL corporate communications and TfL Public Affairs
Manage the production of publicity material for London Rail modes including media releases, presentations, briefings and events and represent London Rail modes at internal and external events and conferences where appropriate
Produce internal briefings, responses to correspondence, enquires and MQT’s in relation to London Rail and update on the Stakeholder Network as appropriate

Knowledge
Educated to A level and equivalent
A Professional qualification in media, public relations, journalism or communications is desirable
Knowledge of current developments and emerging best practices in transport
Skills
Politically astute and sound awareness of the key policy issues affecting transport decisions in London
Good negotiating skills
Proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with senior colleagues and external stakeholders
Excellent standards of written and oral communication, with an ability to work and think accurately in high-pressure situations
Experience
Experience of working within a public relations or communications
Experience of developing and implementing stakeholder engagement programmes including engagement with political audiences
Experience of organising events and conferences
Excellent track record of understanding the realities of working in a complex, high profile public sector organisation
