Estates Maintenance Technician

Location: Lewes or Sussex

Hours: 37.5

Salary: Band 3 16,271 - 19,268


This post will be on a 2 year contract basis.

This is an important team role to support a small busy estates department. You will primarily be responsible for reactive maintenance duties within any of our premises in SE Coast Ambulance Service Trust covering stations, response posts and two HQ/offices/Control centres.

The role will involve managing reactive work such as replacing lighting elements, repairing doors/locks, minor plumbing works and small electrical works. You will need to be able to plan and develop a busy workload effectively. An enthusiastic, self-motivated starter/finisher are important attributes.

Your work will significantly save the Trust on using expensive local contractors.

It will be necessary to liaise with Trust staff, contractors, utilites/external contractors and daily will need to travel between several Trust sites.

You will need the ability to use your own initiative, be conscientious and work to tight timescales.

Some electrical, plumbing, building and carpentry skills will be essential including understanding of managing asbestos containing materials. You will need to have the ability to manage/collate risks associated with your own work and other contractors works. Able to manage fire safety, legionella and asbestos matters. You will need to sign off other contractors works as part of your duties.

You will need to communicate well to follow up on estates matters.

Technical qualifications in an estates related discipline desirable eg ONC, City and Guilds or equivalent. A willingness to learn and develop estates related skills are desirable.

Good communication skills and PC skills.

Good Knowledge of Microsoft word and emails.

Able to prioritise tasks, workloads and maintain a calm professional manner.

Should you be successful following a six month probation, there may be an opportunity to go full time in this role after the two year contract has finished.
