Job Description:
Our client need Application Support Engineers.
i.e.
finding and fixing bugs in software, NOT building and support servers/hardware.
Scope:
Support Engineers provide application support for all our client's platform installations, covering
some of the largest e-commerce gaming systems in the world.
Responsibilities
Owning and investigating a wide variety of issues, including application defects and
performance tuning, at both an application and database level
Creating robust, well-written solutions for these issues
Deployment of fixes to both test & live environments, depending on defined Customer process
Effectively communicating investigation status to the Customer
Liaising with the development teams as appropriate to resolve issues
Candidate Requirements:
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working in an application support role, with experience in the wider software development field.
Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms, performance).
Someone
who likes tackling problems is more important than knowledge of specific languages.
Good knowledge and experience of application development methodologies
Excellent problem solving ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent IT skills encompassing both Unix/Linux and Windows platforms, command line
scripting, databases
Experience working in a team-based environments
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Maths or other technical discipline
from a good university.
