The UK PR manager will be responsible for driving communications plans and campaigns that will increase awareness of Groupon’s brand value and competitive differentiation through merchant and consumer-specific activities. You will need to have proven media relations experience in both the business and consumer press space and be able to interface with senior management on strategic recommendations. You will manage the Groupon press office and be able to prioritize high value requests over low-level opportunities. You are likely to have come from a blue chip brand or PR agency environment with a strong understanding of how to create and implement PR campaigns.

Core Responsibilities

Proactive and reactive media relations – managing Groupon’s network of relationships with broadcast, national, regional and vertical press. Management of all media campaigns;

Writing and management of materials: drafting and management of press releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, marketing and sales presentations and collateral; overseeing blog and social media posts where appropriate;

Planning and strategy: developing and refining the UK and Ireland’s approach to media, events and awards;

Preventing internal crises from reaching media, and helping to ensure balanced coverage when they appear;

Agency management: Run RFP selection process for PR agency; drive agency for results against specific objectives/metrics

Providing internal consulting to various company departments;

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Degree educated preferably in communications, public relations or other related field.

8-12 years’ experience in a related field;

Excellent communication, written, verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and deal with people at all levels in the organisation;

A team player who will implement initiatives effectively and motivate others to carry out their work.

Track record of success in delivering high quality work in a fast paced and dynamic environment;

Proven experience of drafting, developing and implementing communications, PR, social media and/or marketing strategies;

Proven success in the creation of media relations campaigns;

Strong relationship management skills; Ability to work effectively as part of a team;

Excellent accuracy and attention to detail;

Ability to work effectively under pressure;

Crisis management experience

Creative and innovative approach to effective and appropriate use of communication methods for different target groups, including new media;

Excellent analytical skills, ability to process and evaluate information;

Understanding the Groupon model;

Commitment to Groupon’s aims.
