An opportunity has arisen to expand the existing Safeguarding Children Team of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation trust. We are looking to recruit two Specialist Nurses for Nurse Safeguarding Children to compliment the current team.
The organisation is a large foundation trust providing a range of both acute and community services including regional and sub-regional specialities, paediatric intensive care, Neonatal intensive care, health visiting and school nursing services to both an urban and rural population.
Based within the Directorate of Health Care Governance the Safeguarding Children team aims to assist practitioners in promoting to safety and welfare of children through high quality, skilful, child centred practice. The post holders will be expected to practice from either of two sites, the James Cook University Hospital or Challenor Building Guisborough depending on service need. In addition the post holders will visit the community bases of practitioners as well as the trusts other hospital site in Northallerton. The post holders will provide child protection advice, support, and supervision across acute and community services predominantly south of the river Tees but also in the Hambleton and Richmondshire area. Whilst both post holders will deliver Safeguarding Children training the holder of post 2 (22.5 hours a week) will include specific responsibilities for the development, delivery and monitoring of Safeguarding Children training across South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidates will have significant experience in interagency child protection work including attending child protection case conferences and strategy meetings and be able to demonstrate a robust engagement with safeguarding supervision. Strong communication skills are essential due to the high level of liaison required with practitioners at all levels both internally and externally. The post holders will need to be able to prioritize workload and work autonomously under pressure in difficult situations, as well as being able to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Safeguarding Children Team.
