We are seeking to appoint a talented Web Developer to our Web Development Team.
Purpose of role:
To design, develop and support enterprise-level web applications on behalf of Eduserv and our clients.
Responsibilities:
To design and develop enterprise-level websites and applications according to clients' requirements. Applications may be bespoke or in the context of a commercial Content Management System (CMS).
To document developed applications and ensure successful handover of these to users and support staff.
To ensure compliance with standards in interoperability and accessibility such as WAI AAA and e-GIF.
To interface CMS solutions with third-party products such as commerce server, using open standards and published APIs.
To conduct evaluations of technologies and report findings through seminars and/or whitepapers.
To develop other applications on behalf of Eduserv and our customers using ASP .NET (C#), and other technology & languages as required.
To provide 3 rd line support to the Service Delivery teams to help resolve application / RDBMS support calls.
To establish and document the requirements of clients for application developments.
To meet with clients to discuss development and research opportunities and to help resolve technical problems.
To assist Business Development colleagues with design proposals and estimates for solutions to meet new client requirements.
To provide guidance to Developers and other colleagues on software engineering best practice and application design.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
An excellent working knowledge of HTML, XHTML, XML, XSLT, CSS
Significant experience in enterprise-level web development in ASP .NET with C#
Significant experience of integration with RDBMS such as MS SQL Server, MySQL
Familiarity with Content Management technologies, designs, architectures and principals. In particular Sitecore, Microsoft Content Management Server and Commerce Server
Familiarity with IIS and Apache
Experience of version control and working as part of a team of developers
Experience of working within a PRINCE2 project environment would be advantageous
Awareness of and commitment to adhering to web accessibility guidelines and good software engineering practice
Attention to detail, commitment and a structured methodical approach to work
Ability to effectively manage multiple sites and systems simultaneously
The ability and willingness to communicate and transfer knowledge to colleagues and customers
