Working with our customers both in the UK and internationally, the Solution Architect is responsible for defining a robust, sustainable cost effective solution architecture and design to meet the eCapability Product requirements, including business objectives, and current legislation. The Solution Architect will also be required to have excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate the solution design to a wide audience including development teams, reviewers, business management and customers.
As a Solution Architect your main responsibilities will involve:
Define and document the Solution Architecture and Design for the release to meet product and business requirements, within the project constraints of cost & timescale, and the agreed architectural and technical framework. Provide technical leadership of the solution and software development team, ensuring that the solution architecture and design are communicated effectively.
Liaise with product suppliers, COTS component vendors and sub contract development teams.
Ensure consistency and integrity of the solution implementation through overseeing the solution and software development process, and production of development work products.
Provide design management and governance on behalf of the eCapability Product Manager, through the operation of change and configuration management activities.
Work effectively with the Engineering Manager and Project Manager to support the development of the project engineering plan, through assisting with the compilation and review of estimates and schedules, and the identification of risks.
Lead, facilitate and support customer and stakeholder workshops on product requirements and solution design.
As a Solution Architect your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Experienced in requirements and solution workshop design and facilitation
Experienced in the analysis and design of solution and software architectures
Experienced in COTS product implementation and integration
Experienced in the use of configuration management processes and tools, especially in respect to baseline management, solution components, software code generation and developmental change control.
Experienced in providing technical leadership of solution and software engineering projects.
Has some experience of working in other domains and/or with other engineering disciplines.
Experience of working on large, complex projects.
Experience and knowledge of one or more domains including maintenance management and execution, supply chain, asset management, manufacturing and design engineering (preferable)
Experience and knowledge of Defence Logistics (preferable)
Experience of working on MoD programmes (preferable)
