We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative lawyer, committed to providing high quality cost effective legal services within a joint legal service to two progressive local authorities.
The Councils are progressing with their partnerships and looking at innovative ways to deliver services. This post offers an opportunity to a person with previous commercial experience in either the private or public sector to commence their career in local government at a time of tremendous change. The post of Assistant Solicitor provides a comprehensive client focused legal service to both Councils with responsibility for the conduct of a broad range of local government work. This includes a significant caseload of a mixed nature such as commercial advice, particularly advising on different delivery vehicles, advocacy, legal advice, contentious and non contentious matters and other related legal/administrative matters.
You will have the ability to advise and brief others, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively on your own as well as being part of a wider team of lawyers. You will be able to influence and persuade others within a complex political environment and to engender trust and confidence. Lastly, you will have plenty of integrity and the ability to contribute to the good governance of the Councils.
The post, which is based in Havant, offers an exciting opportunity to continue to develop a progressive public sector legal practice within an ambitious joint legal team.
