Brighton & Hove City Council provides creche services for parents and carers attending training and specific meetings at Childrens Centres across the City.
We are looking for experienced Early Years practitioners to provide ad hoc cover (sometimes at late notice) at our Creches. A level 2 qualification is required for the Assistant Post, Level 3 for the Supervisor Post and unqualified applicants may apply for the Support Assistant Post.
All posts require experience working with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYSF) in a childcare/Nursery setting and experience providing care and education to children from a wide range of backgrounds including those with special educational needs.
Applicants must be flexible to cope with changing needs and demands, good literacy and communication skills, ability to develop good working relationships. For the supervisor post experience managing people is essential.
The job requires you to co-operate and adhere to health and safety policy, practice and instruction. Duties include running activities, participating in the key person system, recording and reporting on childrens individual progress, following the EYFS and other appropriate legislation/guidance for young children, preparing/serving food, drinks and snacks, encouraging good nutrition and sociable eating, cleaning the creche, assisting children with personal care including changing nappies, assisting
with toileting and other associated welfare duties.
For the Supervisor role, additional duties will include managing the team whilst in the Crèche, risk assessing the environment and ensuring the childrens care and learning is appropriate for their needs.
Interviews will take place on a monthly basis.

Contract: Hours as and when required. This is a bank staff position which means we cannot guarantee regular hours, it is not Fixed, Part-Time or Full-Time work.
