JOB PURPOSE Under the leadership of the Director of Group Product Engineering, the Product Engineer will be responsible for the technical review and testing of new products within the product development process. The Product Engineer will also be responsible for producing high standard solutions and specifications that reflect the design intent and manufacturing information required to construct our products to support the Product Development teams. DUTIES " RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist the Product Leadership / Product Engineering, Technical Support and Quality teams with the technical review and evaluation and testing of new and existing products. • Assess products from China to determine their suitability for manufacturing.
Preferred • Experience of the lighting industry would be beneficial but not essential. • Experience of working within a highly regulated quality conscious environment, e.g. Electrical, Lighting, Automotive, Aerospace/Defence or Medical industry. • Up to date knowledge of Standards and Directives, i.e.
- Review product designs / concepts and prototypes against specifications • Identifying product improvements to reduce costs and processes. • Assist with the recommendation of new methods of manufacture and assembly of products to help increase sales, reduce costs, increase capacity and improve quality. • Review products at any stage throughout the development life-cycle to ensure a quality product is realised. • Aim to reduce product development lifecycles to ensure products are delivered to the market quicker and more efficiently.
- Ensure products and the design of products include the consideration of all relevant standards as required. • Review and write instruction sheets / packaging and labelling for products. QUALIFICATIONS " EXPERIENCE Essential • An understanding and knowledge in electronic / electrical products standards and assembly. • An understanding and knowledge in instruction sheet creation.
- An understanding of electrical installation would be beneficial but not essential. • 3+ years post graduate experience in design, engineering, testing, product evaluation or manufacturing role preferred. • Fully computer literate, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
LVD, EMC, BSEN, UL, CCC, CE, BS/EN, etc. • An understanding of ISO 9001 and 9002, RoHS and WEEE would be beneficial. • Experience of and understanding of Import Regulations and Standards for various countries, i.e. SASO, KUCAS, GOSH, etc.
