The University of Sussex is looking to appoint a Social Media Manager. You will develop and implement a social media plan for the institution and will be crucial in managing risk associated with social media. You will also be responsible for managing external agencies with whom we work.
You will be responsible for the development of our institutional social media guidelines and policy, and managing the University's social media presence on all main social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). Ranked the 7th most influential university on Twitter you will be leading a strong and growing social media presence for the University. You will be leading on the University’s social media campaigns, and supporting our Student Recruitment Services and our schools of studies in their exploitation of social media, advising and, where necessary, training teams across campus.
You will research current and potential new social media opportunities and monitor social media impact and effectiveness.
Reporting to the Publications and Brand Manager, you will understand the importance of strong branding in communications and be the gatekeeper for the brand on all social platforms from both a written and visual perspective.
You will be able to spot the conversation starter in every development at the University, and understand how to leverage social networks to enhance the University’s profile.
You will have relevant experience in managing successful social media pages and community management. Experience with HE institutions is desirable. You will be switched on to social media using it for everyday communication and information. You will have experience working with multiple monitoring and analytics tools and will be able to present results in an easy to understand manner. You will be personable and self motivated.
