We’re currently recruiting an Assistant Production unit manager HSSEQ to join the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex. This is an excellent opportunity to test your leadership skills with a view of further progression into an operational management role. Supporting two Production Unit Managers, you’ll be part of a dynamic and highly visible team that is responsible for the day-to-day sustainable operation of the units. Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Cheshire is at the heart of Britain’s petrochemical industry. Stanlow employs some 900 people and processes around 12 million tons of crude oil a year.

Responsibilities :
As one of the Assistant Production Unit managers HSSEQ of the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, you’ll be required to support the Production Unit Manager Distillation and Utilities and the Production Unit Manger Oil Movement, in the day-to-day sustainable operation of the units, especially with the ongoing improvement of HSSEQ processes. You are to champion the drive for continuous improvement within the Production Units through:
Ensuring compliance with Shell, Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, and regulator HSEQ standards.
Assisting the Production Unit Managers in setting and reviewing HSE objectives and targets.
Leading incident investigations and ensuring effective follow-up through communications with all teams.
Leading the Production Units HSE meetings, Quality management reviews and setting appropriate actions for days and shift teams

Requirements :
With a degree in Chemical Engineering or in HSE, you’ll have proven technical skills and a track record in analysing problems and delivering results. You’ll have a good understanding of HSSEQ and the associated Legislative requirements in a manufacturing environment. Awareness of Quality Improvement processes, like Lean Manufacturing, would be an advantage. Working in a dynamic and challenging operating environment you’ll need to have strong interpersonal skills, be effective in multi-disciplinary teams and be able to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of initiative and independence. Understanding of business prerequisites and processes as well as a drive towards operational excellence are essential.

Applicants should be aware that the long-term ownership options are being considered for the Stanlow site, which could include the sale of the refinery. If a deal is pursued, the refinery would be sold as a going concern.
