Job Purpose:
To carry out a range of activities associated with the production of Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings and the maintenance of records
Principal Accountabilities:
To produce drawing maintenance and records
Equipment schedules
Network schematics
Cable schedules
Lease drawings
HV/ LV/ street lighting cable drawings and databases
Surface water drainage drawings
General arrangement drawings
HV switchboard layouts
LV switchboard and feeder pillar layouts
Liaise with the client for the transfer of information between both parties for any updates
Liaise with client's control room for issue and updates of record drawings
Project work
Produce design drawings for all project work
Produce install drawings for all project work
Manage & store the client's project drawings issued to UK Power Networks Services
Assist the operational teams with on site marking, using specialist equipment such as GPS, if required
Assist the operational Teams, with any site permits to dig requests
Manage 'change notice' system for all operational drawings changes
Carries out data capture across the sites, as and when required, using GPS technology and transfer the data to produce meaningful drawings where 'as built' or asset information is required to a high degree of accuracy
Maintain and update contingency plan scenario drawings in line with network schematic
Maintain and update cable joint and termination register
Assist with the production of switchgear and transformers schedules
Manage all interfaces with UK Power Networks for all requests which fall under the Networks 'cable watch' programme
Undertake additional activities commensurate with the job level and competency
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Experience of AutoCAD
Must be working at UK Power Networks DSR's CP Status
Visible demonstration of commitment to Zero harm and knowledge of CDM standards
Able to effectively communicate positive and negative news at all levels of the business
Is able to motivate themselves and others to drive performance
Demonstrates strong team working skills
Able to make decision and clearly communicate actions to team
Recognised for being able to make clear decisions, quickly and effectively
Proactively maintains their own competencies and keeping up to date with wider business changes
Demonstrates at IPR a proactive approach to continual personal development
Good customer skills with the ability to represent the company at all levels
Willing to gain experience of HV/LV networks, assets and operations
A broad understanding of UK Power Networks various businesses
All round communication skills
Ideally have experience within Netmaps
Ideally hold IOSH/NEBOSH status
Must have a Full UK driving license

Support the Zero Harm programme sponsored by the Director of Infrastructure Services. Fulfil legal HSE requirements as detailed under Health & Safety Responsibilities below.
Will also be expected to understand and be able to operate within CDM standards.
Programme
Although based at one site, the role will involve travelling around the other locations
Stakeholders
External: Attend regular meetings with the client which include: progress meetings & other client organised meetings
Internal:
The draughtsman is accountable to the Designers for delivery of project drawings.
Attend regular meetings with the sector and Infrastructure Services.
