Construction CoordinatorOverall Role PurposeAs part of the installation process, it is necessary on occasions to dig up the public foot path to lay cables to supply our Company service to customer homes. In order to disturb a public foot path, permission is required from the local council. Any works in the public highway (footway, carriageway or verge) that require breaking the surface (no matter how small) is defined as an excavation and a notice must be submitted prior to works commencing. Failure to do so is illegal under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and substantial fines will apply.

In order to protect Our Company from any fixed penalty notices and to ensure that a harmonious relationship flourishes between local authorities and Our Company a construction coordinator ensures compliance. Key Accountabilities: o To open the necessary documentation to, allow our Engineers to disturb the public foot path.o Close down the notice with in the time limit allowed giving clear details of the work carried out.o Open any Remedial Notices (defects) (This is where the disturbance to the footpath has not been complete to the original state before our works.) as directed by our Engineering Manager.o Recording opening notices on spread sheet to ensure we are not late in closing which puts the company at risk of fines.o Up date company data base systems with in time limits.o Deal with Telephone enquireso Ensure mail box is monitored and answered in a timely manner Working Relationships and interfaces: Working closely with:o Internal colleagues and Team Leaderso Virgin Media Customerso Virgin Media Field Operations Staffo Engineering Managers Skills and Experience Essential: o Good Telephone mannero Good Keyboard skillso Excel spreadsheet knowledgeo Experienced internal and external customer communication kills both written and verbalo Able to welcome change and make the necessary adjustments.o Create new and improved methods of working Behavioural Competencies o Excellent time management skillso Takes a responsible attitude to the work to ensure the business is protected from contractual penalties o Understanding and recognises the effect that hisher attitude and behaviour can have in shaping team morale.o Actively takes ownership of incoming workload and any complaintsqueries that arise and delivers them to a timely completion.o Ability to work unsupervised and possess the confidence to make decisions in the absence of management.o Ability to influenceo Easy to do business witho Ability to work as a team.
