Mercer Dynamic De-Risking Solution (MDDS)
aims to manage pension schemes along a path to full funding (or some other funding target) and has arisen from a need to provide governance frameworks that will allow trustees to lock in market gains and protect against downside equity risk. MDDSprovides a structure that links investment strategy and funding through ongoing monitoring of a scheme's funding level. The key features are: daily funding level monitoring combined with a dynamic, rules-based approach to locking in gains; an integrated liability hedging strategy; and mitigation of downside equity risk.
The Operations Specialist will work as part of the small operations team which is responsible for the daily monitoring of all MDDS clients, with specific focus on MDDS Ireland clients.
The role will also include the ongoing development of operational procedures, assisting in testing of systems and processes, interaction with other departments to ensure inter-departmental
processes are working well.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide daily monitoring for all MDDS clients including monitoring funding levels and identifying any triggers hit and potential trades
Ensure timely, efficient and accurate on boarding process from an operational perspective for all MDDS clients
Work on a daily basis in partnership with the Dublin based MDDS Strategy team and very closely with the Dublin based Investment and Operations team to be a key contributor from an operational and wider business perspective to new propositions and required development to the existing services / propositions.
Develop a strong relationship with both internal and external parties so as to be a key point of contact for MDDS Ireland clients
Take responsibility for specific operational processes and continue to develop specific controls and documentation
Assist operational team in identifying risks and establishing appropriate controls to mitigate these risks
Assist with queries from IT, Strategy and Sales teams
A graduate/ graduate calibre with proven experience in Pension Administration or Investment Management
Understanding of operational and reputation risks and the operational control environment required to manage these risks
A knowledge of fund structures would be an advantage
Ability to work on own initiative within a small team in a challenging start up environment
