Existing Sussex Police employees must inform their immediate Line Manager before applying for this post. Sussex Police Special Constables, Volunteers and Agency Staff (excluding self employed workers) covered under the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) are eligible to apply for internally advertised posts.
The Disclosure and Barring unit carries out enhanced Disclosure and Barring applications which enables organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to make safer recruitment decisions. The unit identifies candidates who may be unsuitable to work with children or vulnerable adults as well as assisting in the process of barring certain individuals from being able to work with vulnerable groups.
The day-to-day duties will involve you interrogating and disiminating information that has been collated from the local intelligence and crime systems, as well as custody and the Police National Computer for which full training will be provided. You will be required to verify and process enhanced disclosure applications and barring requests recieved from the Disclosure and Barring Service. You will then be making informed decisions based on the information identified.
Skills & Experience
Self motivation, personal responsibility and the ability to make decisions are essential. Experience of database inputting is also required and you'll need to feel comfortable and confident liaising with various external agencies both verbally and via email therefore good communication skills are also required.
