My client is a leading provider of large-bore diesel engines for marine and power plant applications. The company designs two-stroke and four-stroke engines, generating sets, turbochargers, CP propellers and complete propulsion packages that are manufactured both by it and its licensees. The engines have outputs ranging from 450 to 97,300 kW of power.
Main duties and responsibilities: You must be familiar with diesel Power Plants (Plant and Engine). You must have electrical/controls and mechanical skills. You must have knowledge of diesel engines and engine related systems (common auxiliaries). You will have experience in Pre-Commissioning
Tasks will include:
Prepare work-time estimations (input schedule).
Organization of the working packages to be done related to engine commissioning
Review of technical documents (internal and external).
Write specifications and procedures (startup-, flushing procedure, …)
Advise as responsible engineer during flushing
Overall responsible regarding genset commissioning
Check and adaption of safety and control system
Commissioning of engine systems (e.g. Splash oil, EDS, governor)
Assure that all Aux. systems available and correct installed
Witnessing test results
Engine ready for first startup (Air, liquids, …)
Startup engine in LFO
Alternator protection test and excitation test
"To-Run-In"-program incl. measuring main load levels
Test of Safety- and Control system
Synchronizing to grid
Final adjustment engine (Ignition pressure)
Documentation (check sheets, protocols, …)
Monitor commissioning work-in-progress
Complete weekly/daily platform report (incl. recovery planning)
Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs.
Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Essential criteria: Experience in any of the following; Wartsila, Caterpillar, ABB, Rolls-Royce, MAK, SEG and Kuhse-other types of engine and controls experience will also be considered. You must be prepared for international travel and must be experienced!
Desirable criteria: Additional languages are considered as a plus
- Studies with a focus on engineering/ mechanical engineering
- Several years of experience in commissioning (preferably large turnkey projects)
- Analytical skills, assertiveness and communication skills are a must
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility
- Fluent in spoken and written English
