You're passionate about retail. You love coming up with new ideas and ways to make your store as successful as it can be. What's more, you believe that every customer should enjoy a positive experience from the moment they walk through the door. Now you're ready to take your career to another level with a company that's as ambitious as you are.
Welcome to John Smith's. An entrepreneurial, dynamic and growing organisation, we are a leading academic retailer based on university campuses. Right now we need you to be part of the friendly team at our thriving student store at the University of East London.
The store itself is a small business, so you'll need to get to grips with all aspects of its operation - from back office admin to handling online orders. There's real variety, plus the chance to build your skills in new areas. That's why a flexible approach is important, plus the willingness to take the initiative and go that extra mile to deliver outstanding customer service.
As well as that, you'll bring experience gained in a busy retail environment, along with first-rate communication, teamworking and IT skills.
In return, there's the opportunity to build a great career with us, not to mention an excellent benefits package including performance related bonus, stakeholder pension, life assurance and up to 35% staff discount.
The shop's trading hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6.30pm, though some flexibility within these hours is essential. Although you'll work for 20 hours per week, you should be willing to adapt to the needs of the business.
To apply, please send your CV and covering letter, setting out what customer service means to you and why you think you have the skills and experience to be considered for this role, to firstname.lastname@example.org including job reference UEL_PT13 in the subject box.
Closing date for applications: 3rd SEPTEMBER 2013.

Please note that applications received after this date and applications without a covering letter will not be considered. If you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date you should assume that you have not been successful on this occasion.
