Agenda for Change Band: 2 (during training) Band 3 following successful completion of training within the new unit (Band 2 - £14,153 - £17,253 pa/pro rata) (Band 3 - £16,110 - £19,077 pa/pro rata)

Following the opening of the new Decontamination Unit at Northern General Hospital and in preparation for the planned opening of a new unit at Royal Hallamshire, a post has become available for a Trainee Decontamination Technicians to work within the shift pattern of the units.

The technicians will be trained in the current busy Endoscopy Unit based at the Hallamshire but will be moving to the new state of the arts Decontamination Unit from next year. The post will be a band 2 until the post holders is fully trained in the new Unit after which time they will progress to a Band 3.

Candidates for these posts must have a good general education and would benefit from a decontamination back ground either from endoscopy or Sterile services.

This role involves shift working pattern between 8am until 9pm and some weekend and bank working. The candidate will be expected to be able to collect scopes from departments around the trust, manually clean, scopes before placing into a washer disinfector. They will be required to quality check items monitor the wash cycle and its load before delivery and storage of scopes as part of this role in a timely manner.

This role involves a regulated activity with vulnerable children and/or adults. The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 legally requires any successful candidates entering into a role involving regulated activity with vulnerable groups to complete a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Therefore, successful candidates will be required to complete a CRB disclosure application (police check).
