Royal Mail has been in operation since 1625 and we are the most trusted mail delivery provider in the UK. Every working day we collect, process and deliver around 71 million items to over 28 million addresses.
We are going through our biggest modernisation programme in our history and have invested over £2 billion in modernising our business to ensure we provide a more reliable service whilst maintaining our low cost UK and international service.
To continue with our success, we need dedicated staff who are passionate about customer service, enjoy working as a team and have a flexible outlook.
We are now recruiting Delivery Postmen/Delivery Postwomen with driving duties to work at Stocksbridge Delivery Office.
Delivery Postpeople represent Royal Mail and are an established part of the community. You'll enjoy working outdoors and meeting people and have a professional and positive attitude.
As a Delivery Postperson, you will start the day by accurately sorting the mail into your delivery route. The average delivery walk lasts approximately 3 and a half hours and each day you will have to deliver multiple bags (approximately 6-8 mailbags), which can each weigh up to 16kg. You will work in all weathers delivering the mail either on foot, by cycle or in a shared van.
When driving, you'll collect mail from Post Office branches, businesses and post-boxes, transporting it to mail centres, delivery offices and airports.
You must hold a full driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
You need to consider how you will get to work, as public transport may not be available at the start of your shift.
The recruitment process can take up to 7 weeks once the vacancy is live on the Royal Mail Website.
You will be required to complete online tests as part of the application process. Once you have submitted your complete application the test will be available.
Please note, once our maximum number of applications has been reached, this vacancy will be withdrawn.
