Johnson Matthey is a speciality chemicals company focused on its core skills in catalysis, precious metals, fine chemicals and process technology. The Technology Centre, based at Sonning Common, undertakes research work for the group.
A number of vacancies have arisen at the Technology Centre, within the Emissions Control Group, for Research Scientists to work on the development of advanced automotive emission control catalysts. Candidates for two types of role are required. The first role (please quote ref JC173) is concerned with the development of novel catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NOx for diesel vehicles. The second role (please quote ref RR174) is concerned with the development of advanced emission control catalysts for stationary emission systems. Both positions will involve a strong focus on catalyst design, preparation and evaluation.
The successful candidates will also be responsible for communicating the outputs of their research to development groups within the Emission Control Technologies Business Unit.
Candidates will ideally have a PhD in a field related to catalyst science including characterisation and spectroscopy, catalyst preparation, catalyst design, evaluation and mechanistic understanding. Preference will be given to candidates who have shown, through their research work, strong relationships between catalyst structure, properties and activity. Proficiency in presentation and networking is essential.
