Aircraft Maintenance Lecturer University of South Wales -Faculty for Advanced Technology 2 posts

The School of Engineering is experiencing significant growth and is looking to complement existing skills with new members of staff who will coordinate, lecture and support a BSc(Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering degree that the University operates in collaboration with British Airways.

For the training coordinator it is expected that the successful candidate will have significant expertise in the area of aircraft maintenance engineering, with the potential ability to hold a Form 4, and they will be expected to contribute to the high quality teaching and research in the school of engineering.

For the lecturers the successful candidates will join a dynamic growing school with an excellent record in research. The applicants should be a licensed engineer (B1 or B2) or have significant relevant aircraft maintenance or aeronautical engineering experience.

For the technician posts the successful applicants will have completed a recognized apprenticeship, preferably with an Aviation background. He or she will have sound knowledge of workshop practices and aviation structures, sheet metalwork/fabrication and repairs or electronics and instrumentation with an aviation bias. He or she should be familiar with Aircraft manuals such as AMM,CMM, SRM, IPC, and some experience of materials and hardware is required. The successful candidate will have qualities including OJT experience and a desire to impart information to a multi-cultural group of students, raising standards and assessing their progress whilst delivering a structured disciplined course.

A flexible approach and the ability to multi-task is important for these positions. Furthermore an understanding of EASA regulations would be an advantage although training will be given in this area.
