Royal Mail are now recruiting for delivery postwomen and postmen at Rottingdean

Delivery Office

Royal Mail, one of the UK’s most trusted and recognised companies, has a number of great opportunities for customer focused employees working in our delivery roles. As the face of Royal Mail you will work from 8:00am to 2:00pm as

part of a team, ensuring we continue to deliver the high standards of service our customers expect.

Do you:
Want a part time job with hours from 8:00am to 2:00pm working from a local delivery office?

Enjoy working outdoors and are looking for a role with beneficial exercise?

Like working as part of a team to deliver customer satisfaction?

Want to be proud to work for one of the UK’s most well-known and trusted companies?

Have a current driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points?

If you answered yes to these questions then Royal Mail may have just the opportunity for you.

Our Company

Royal Mail is one of the largest UK companies and e

very working day we collect, process and deliver around 71 million items to over 28 million addresses.

The mails market is changing: people often now use email instead of letters and the number of letters we deliver is reducing each year. However, the growth of the online shopping industry means we now deliver more parcels every week.

We deliver to our customers 6 days a week, but now instead of seeing the postwoman and postman on a bike or carrying heavy bags, you will see them out in shared vans, working as a team to deliver the various parcels and letters to our customers.

We are an inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all different backgrounds, beliefs and circumstances. We are particularly interested to hear from female/disabled/ethnic minority applicants who are currently under represented in our workforce.

Your Role

As a delivery postwoman or postman you will be the public face of Royal Mail and an established part of the community. It’s the person you see delivering your post every day.

Due to modernisation our postwomen and postmen work more sociable hours and your day will start in the local delivery office, where you will collect your mail for your round. You may finalise sorting the mail into your delivery route or it may have already been sorted for you.

After that, you will start your delivery round, usually with a colleague in a shared van which you will be required to drive, therefore you will need a full driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. You will have a hand held computer device to capture customer signatures for deliveries. Your round will take approx. 4 hours to complete and thanks to our new delivery methods you will not be carrying heavy bags, however it will keep you fit.

Our commitment to our customers is that we will deliver in all weathers and your role in making that happen is critical.

You will be paid weekly, increments at 6 months and 12 months are subject to satisfactory performance.

Our Values

Our values define our relationships with our employees and customers. We’ve arrived at these through discussion and consultation with representatives of all parts of the Royal Mail Group, and we believe them to be core to our identity even as we undergo considerable change:

  • We work Safely
Royal Mail Group is committed to reducing the likelihood of accidents in the workplace. We achieve this through a commitment to provide training and investing in technology

  • We have a passion to deliver for our customers
Royal Mail people have a passion for customer service and delivery excellence - it’s what gives us our edge and and wins us trust

  • We have pride and care about what we do
Taking pride and care in our working lives supports all other values. It helps us to ensure that accidents are kept to a minimum, and it wins us the respect of the users of our service, on whose custom we’re dependent

  • We work together and treat each other fairly
We value and take pride in the diversity of our workforce, and have a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination. We want all our colleagues to treat each other with respect, and are committed to providing equal opportunities

  • We are trusted to succeed
From a child awaiting a birthday parcel to a major multinational for which timely delivery of documents is business-critical, we work to build our customers trust in our ability to succeed every day

  • We act commercially
Our business is changing. Challenges to the traditional model of mail-delivery from email and other electronic communications, and the increase in internet shopping, mean we must act commercially to stay ahead of change in an increasingly competitive market place
