Technical Architects lead medium to large engagements, particularly for technically complex solutions. TA’s evangelize Optaros’ technical capabilities during sales activities and shape and communicate proposed solutions to senior client management. TA’s interact at the VP and CXO level on the client side. They may be leveraged across projects to ensure teams deliver solutions that meet business goals and user requirements. Technical Architects provide external leadership by maintaining Optaros’ presence in OS communities.
Solution Development. Technical Architects design solutions for various client needs. TA’s drive analysis of client processes and recommend new business models, workflows, or solutions. They suggest innovative solutions to business problems/processes that leverage technology to provide marketing differentiation, efficiency improvements, and better user experiences.
Team Management. Technical Architects lead project teams to successfully deliver agreed upon solutions of the highest quality, exceeding customer expectations. They mentor and guide less experienced consultants; they are expected to be role models for best practices and to provide technical knowledge sharing.
Client Management. TA’s are often the face to the client and are called upon to facilitate user requirements sessions, design technical specifications, and manage development of documentation to meet client expectations.
Business Development. Technical Architects support business development at Optaros by evangelizing Optaros’ technical capabilities during sales activities and shape and communicate proposed solutions to senior client management.
Extensive experience with debugging, reuse, source code management strategies (e.g. forking, branching), and release management
Solid understanding of databases and data modeling/design techniques; data interface protocols; database software installation; database tuning
12+ years experience as a technical developer or related work experience; 6+ years in technical leadership roles; experience in project-based consulting environment
Extensive understanding of Fixed Price / Fixed Fee project planning and delivery
Well thought out view regarding software trends and the role of Open Source within those trends
Good verbal and written communications skills; good presentation and facilitation skills
Extensive knowledge in the areas of custom software development (Web development experience is required): OOAD Methodologies; OO Design Patterns; Open Source J2EE Tools and Frameworks (Hibernate, Struts, Spring, PHP, AJAX); Web Services, middleware and messaging technologies (MQ Series, JMS); Web Application Servers and associated products (Portal, Commerce, Workflow, content server)
Expertise architecting and designing software solutions for various problem types
Solid knowledge of system administration and software and hardware configuration; ability to make informed recommendations to customer IT staff; ability to troubleshoot pre- and post-production implementations; security; load balancing and performance
Solid experience with popular Open Source platforms, frameworks and components such as Drupal, Alfresco, Magento, Django, Symfony, and Liferay
Willingness to travel to client locations and collaborate with distributed delivery teams as needed
