Apprentices form a valid role within our nurseries as employed members of staff, with many progressing onto an Advanced Apprenticeship then progressing in their career at Busy Bees, fulfilling senior positions within our nurseries.

Please find an example of some of your duties below:
  • involvement in planning stimulating activities for the children in your care
  • assisting in delivering a high level of quality childcare

  • ensuring each child's individual needs are met
  • contributing to the safeguarding of all children
As an Apprentice, you will be working alongside qualified staff who will show you the ropes. You will be assigned a mentor to provide you with support within your nursery, helping you to complete the tasks you need so you can progress in your qualification. You will attend short courses at our training centres, where you will be provided with knowledge to develop your personal skills and practice.

Your Training Officer will visit you regularly in your nursery, assessing the work you are doing, providing recognition for your progress and vital guidance on how you can improve.

There is a Practical Experience Booklet designed to enhance your 'on the job' training, along with opportunities for short courses, such as: Basic Skills, Functional Skills, Equality & Diversity, Behaviour Management, Early Years Foundation Stage, Safeguarding Children, Food Hygiene and many more

This apprenticeship vacancy is reliant on government funding, therefore your application will be subject to eligibility criteria.

You are required to access one of our training centres for short course sessions throughout your training. These are a compulsory part of your training. Training venues are currently:

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices is per. The rate from 1st October 2014 is per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship.

For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

On completion of your apprenticeship you will become an Early Years Educator with Busy Bees and have the opportunity to apply to progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Many Advanced Apprenticeships have progressed on to fulfil roles such as: SENCOs, Room Managers, Nursery Mentors and Assistant Managers

There are also opportunities as a Busy Bees employee to progress on to further childcare qualifications or a management apprenticeship

You will be required to have a DBS check (police clearance to work with children). This is a full time job and you will be expected to put an average of 5 hours per week from your own time, into your study. You need to be committed to developing your English, Maths and ICT skills.

You are not only applying for an apprenticeship but for a job too, therefore you will be required to adhere to company policies and procedures.
