Sales and Operations:
Maintaining a full understanding of, and implementing Company and Sales Manager objectives i.e. Sales Force Direction document.
Ensuring effective management of your sales team to the highest standards of maximising sales and controlling costs.
Detailed interpretation of commercial reports, e.g., UPT, ATV, HIT, space management, best sellers. Knows best-sellers on all products.
Efficient control/management of staff resource across the floor(s) to ensure the sales area is suitably covered – remaining mobile and setting the pace.
Liaising with the Assistant Store/Commercial Manager to pro-actively identify and resolve problems.
Ensure security is controlled and kept to an acceptable minimum, making a positive contribution to stock loss .
Displays market knowledge and is aware of competitors, recognising viable business opportunities
Questions and challenges current practices and puts forward ideas for improvement.
Effectively manages health and safety (evidence of Personal Safety Evaluation being completed).
If managing a Home department, to be fully competent at processing enquiries, Home orders (inc. manual orders), I.F.C., gift list, etc.

Team Management:
To coach, motivate and develop the team to achieve personal and store objectives through:

Effectively communicating and coaching the sales team in all Company policies and procedures
Identifying and carrying out the training and development needs of the sales team (and junior managers if applicable)
Identifying and managing performance issues (using the traffic light process) and non-attendance
Personally conducting reviews and appraisals on all supervisors and ensuring all appraisals for sales staff are carried out to agreed deadlines
Lead, communicate and motivate - setting the pace and driving the team forward
Makes good use of company resources and documents to support them and their team in their roles

Key Skills:
To work as part of the senior management team within the store and liaise and communicate with the other Sales Managers on a daily basis and carry out duties as and when required.
Managing time effectively – planning, prioritising, following up, resolving and reacting to issues on the sales floor(s) quickly with informed decisions.
To effectively communicate expectations and directions, and ensure adherence to, all Company policies and procedures through the management of team talks, notice boards and e-learning.
To effectively and efficiently plan and oversee the management of key events such as Christmas, sales, bank holidays and stock-take.
Ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to and maintained at all times.
