WHAT THE HOUSEKEEPING ASSISTANT JOB INVOLVES:

The Housekeeping Assistant role with UNITE is a varied and important one where you will have exposure to our customers on a day to day basis, building relationships with them and helping to ensure that their experience of living with us is a great one.

As a Housekeeping Assistant maintaining the cleanliness of our properties is vital, as is the welfare and safety of our customers and staff, so you will provide a housekeeping and cleaning service ensuring a high level of cleanliness and order is maintained throughout the properties. You will undertake general day-to-day cleaning duties, under appropriate supervision, including cleaning external areas and ad hoc duties as required, such as carpet cleaning, freezer defrosting, room inspections, emergency/incident response, and minor maintenance duties.

You will log maintenance issues when required, assist the supervisor with effective stock control processes and ensure optimum stock levels are maintained. You`ll also make certain that we are fully compliant with Health & Safety Regulations, and that all activities are compliant with audit requirements, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times.

Working in the properties you`ll be building up relationships with customers and colleagues from day one, following up on any customer or property related issues, assisting customers with any queries or issues (including key management and customer lock outs), supporting with customer sales enquiries, and providing a decisive and effective response to customer complaints, all with the appropriate support and guidance and the appropriate level of priority.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

Although you may not have worked in the accommodation, hospitality or retail sectors before, you will have had experience in a customer facing domestic or commercial cleaning or housekeeping role.

It`s really important to us that you thrive on understanding, empathising and delivering against customer needs and are able to communicate effectively with people, remaining professional, courteous, friendly and calm in all situations.

With so many customers and such a variety of work the environment is fast paced and exciting, so we will need to know that you are able to work at pace, whilst still maintaining a high level of accuracy in everything you do. Personal time management and prioritisation skills are key in this role and whilst self-motivation and working on your initiative are crucial, it`s also important that you are a first class team player who possesses a positive and collegiate attitude, with the ability to adapt swiftly and a willingness to undertake challenging tasks to ensure customer satisfaction.

Our administrative processes are really important too, so a basic level of computer literacy is required as well.
