Job Description

Scope of responsibility:
Set up a DM consumer lines platform for sustainable growth and manage all aspects of DM
  • Manage and develop the DM lines of business to achieve or exceed the annual budget as it is phased and by DM minor lines
  • Operate within the campaign authority and expense parameters ensuring adherence to agreed profit center and company best practices, while ensuring compliance to local regulatory requirements
  • Full P&L accountability (FGEN and Campaign), ensuring necessary monitors, measurements actions are identified and implemented in a timely and accurate fashion to deliver the targeted P&L result
  • Lead and develop the DM team members, ensuring they are performing at their optimum level and within agreed objectives and responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors and vendors ensuring profitable growth across DM lines of business
  • Work effectively with the regional office and relevant local staff through agreed distribution routes.
Purpose of the role:
Long term growth and profitability of the Chartis Consumer Lines business requires a transformation from the current product centric approach to one that focuses on the needs of the customer through the creation of a single Direct to Consumer Platform.

Whilst the European Direct to Consumer Distribution Manager, Consumer Lines DTC will be responsible for management of the strategy and integration of a consistent delivery platform for all Consumer Lines products, the VP Consumer Lines DM will largely be responsible for execution of DM activity through day to day management and interaction with the Country DM operations. The PCs will continue to have ultimate accountability and responsibility for the growth and profitability of their respective business lines, driving decisions with respect to product development, pricing, underwriting and long term business direction. The DTC team will execute the Direct Marketing strategy.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Accountabilities for the role:
  • Manage overall DM business, budget and individual campaign activities to achieve maximum profit including:
o Budget creation and implementation
o Sponsor development activities including prospecting, proposal preparation and negotiation
o Devising campaign strategies, preparation of marketing plans, records and reports
o Agree schedules for production, ensuring that both internal and external suppliers can commit to schedule
o Allocate resources ensuring both quality, compliance and timeline objectives of the campaigns are being adhered to or exceeded
o Manage personnel as allocated to ensure appropriate goals and measures are being set and agreed
o Ensure that agreed best practices is being adhered to and proactively work to continuously improve the process to improve quality and efficiency
o Develop approved supplier management and assess against internal and external benchmarks
  • Responsible for all aspects of campaign implementation and managing team
o Campaign scheduling, resource allocation & process management
o Prepare and agree campaigns plan(s)
o Campaign creative costs and accounting
o Printing costs
o Coordination of mailing, lettershops, call centers with backroom capabilities
o Brief and manage outside vendor
o Call center coordination, script development/compliance, develop TSR/CSR training program/manual, implement TSR/CSR training/monitoring and reporting
o Policy fulfillment
o Ensure legal/privacy/regulatory and profit center compliance

  • Analysis of operating results in accordance with Profit Center guidelines and implementing corrective actions
  • Represent the DM and the Profit Centers and where necessary provide relative input on any projects or company developments
  • Assist Profit Center Managers and Consumer Lines Manager in specific projects, as required.

TCF Regulatory Accountabilities
  • To carry out the significant management functions as apportioned by Chartis UK’s Governing Bodies within the framework of Chartis UK’s TCF policy.
  • To ensure that performance objectives are set and assessed against the relevant FSA TCF outcomes.
  • To carry out accountabilities and objectives within the framework of Chartis UK’s TCF policy.

Experience & Qualifications Required:
1. Relevant experience in marketing, advertising agency, direct marketing, financial services and/or insurance.
2. MBA or equivalent
3. Maintain an up to date understanding of the insurance and business operational environment.
4. Has a track record of successfully leading and managing people, working through others to achieve results.
5. Experience working in telemarketing environment is a plus i.e. leading telemarketing teams/programs as well as working with business/affinity partners.
6. Business development experience including prospecting, proposal writing, and making sales presentations desirable.
