Sport981 are looking to appoint a committed self employed strength and conditioning coach to our growing network of coaches.

In addition to working as part of our progressive strength and conditioning team, the successful candidate will be expected to progress through the Sport981 tutor course and become eligible to tutor Sport981 educational workshops and certifications.

The successful candidate will be required to work with international junior tennis players based at the Nottingham Performance Academy and be responsible for co-ordinating, developing and implementing best practice strength and conditioning coaching to meet the needs of the aspiring players onsite.

You will be working with an interdisciplinary team comprising of several highly experienced technical coaches and therefore collaborative team skills are essential.

You will require a minimum of 2 years strength and conditioning experience with athletes and hold the UKSCA accreditation and an appropriate science degree.

Experience working with elite level sport is essential and a working knowledge of junior athletic development, additional industry certifications (NASM PES, CES, FMS) and an understanding of tennis is very desirable.

Location: You will be based at the Nottingham High Performance Tennis Centre

Contract duration: 1 Year +

To be eligible candidates require;

A qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in sports science or a related area specialising in the physical preparation of junior and senior athletes

UK Strength and Conditioning Association Accreditation or equivalent

A satisfactory CRB disclosure

A knowledge and understanding of the needs of high performance tennis players and coaches

A knowledge and understanding of the various sports science and medicine disciplines

A knowledge and understanding of how to engage and communicate with and motivate tennis players of all ages

A knowledge and understanding of tennis movement and how to improve a players speed and agility around the court

A thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and their application to the development of elite tennis players

A proven track record of analysing tennis and other sports in relation to their strength and conditioning needs and of developing, implementing and evaluating strength and conditioning programmes for individual tennis players

A proven track record of constructing strength, power and endurance based training programmes, both gym and field based, with components of testing as required

A proven track record of providing strength and conditioning support to players and coaches to improve performance

A proven track record of planning, periodisation, implementation and monitoring of strength and conditioning to high performance athletes

A proven track record of working within an interdisciplinary team in the delivery of strength and conditioning to elite athletes

A Criminal Records Bureau check will be required.

A valid first aid certification will be required.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

To collaborate with the academy coaching and performance team to improve performance through developing, implementing and evaluating tennis specific strength and conditioning programmes

To work closely with Sport981 and their partners to continually enhance the professional development and image of strength and conditioning within the UK

Be able to pass additional Sport981 accredited certifications and tutor exams as part of a commitment to ongoing CPD

To undertake the delivery and development of strength and conditioning services for players and coaches that effectively meet their needs with highest professional standards

To effectively problem solve in creating the best possible strength and conditioning service for players and coaches

To apply the principles of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and appropriate training modalities to the strength and conditioning programmes of junior tennis players

To ensure that the latest innovations and research findings within tennis and strength and conditioning are analysed, assessed and brought into British tennis when they will add value and improve performance

To teach and train other coaches, professionals in other organisations and junior professionals joining the team as required and to maintain own continuous professional development at the highest level

To champion the role of strength and conditioning and evidence based training principles in the development of junior and senior tennis players In close collaboration with the tennis coaches actively contribute to weekly, monthly and annual training plans and tournament schedules of junior and senior tennis players

To create, build and sustain effective working relationships and networks with key partners particularly other Strength and Conditioning Coaches both nationally and internationally

To develop and implement systems and methodologies to evaluate the success of own and team's work both internally and externally To ensure the highest possible standards of strength and conditioning are consistently delivered to players and coaches

To provide support and guidance to other members of the academy coaching and performance team
