Eatons Aeropsace business in South Molton, Devon has an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Manager with proven Program Management experience. Educated to degree level and experience working in the Aerospace industry (ideally leading a team) are essential for this challenging role that offers excellent career progression.
Direct and coordinate all design, sustaining and research and development engineering activities for assigned projects and/or program(s).
This role will also encompass acting as the local site Program Manager with responsibility for customer satisfaction and financial performance of the development, production and/or support phases of the assigned projects and/or program(s). Also, responsible for the site-wide integration of consistent project management methodologies and terminology and ensures their appropriate application to individual on-going programs and during new program launch on all site programs.
Functions as a member of the senior management staff, directly involved with tactical and strategic business decisions.
Works closely with both internal and external sales and marketing personnel to generate new product business.
. Coordinate all product design/manufacturing activities and resources within managed departments for optimum efficiency and economy.
. Establishe and approve departmental procedures and priorities.
. Recommend to management staff major programs/products for development or acquisition.
. Provide technical support to the sales and marketing staff for new product proposals and sales calls.
. Coordinate and provide technical support to the R&D staff for new product development and introduction.
. Establish and monitor departmental resources and budgets, including personnel and capital equipment
. Evaluate the performance of all subordinate engineers, technicians, draftsman and supervisors. Recommends staff additions, deletions, raises and promotions.
. Ensure adequate support to the program teams by coordinating PM reviews, preparing & publishing PM metrics and reports. Provide risk management tools, training and ensure mitigation of program risk. Ensure gate reviews are scheduled, conducted and tracked.
. Review all requests for quotation recommends bid or no bid, and assigns technical resources for proposal preparation as required.
. Recommend and coordinate inter-departmental activities to improve plant overall performance and profitability.
. Maintain metrics for programs and contracts for earned value (CPI/SPI), quality, technical performance and delivery through all of the PROLaunch phases. Report key metrics for senior management including development program milestone OTD and PROLaunch status. Champion the implementation and evolution of the PROLaunch process at the site.
. Continuously review and enhance engineering & program management skill sets and tools through addition of resources, training, mentoring and software purchases. Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Broad electro-mechanical engineering background
Good understanding of the Military/Aerospace/Industrial market
Broad specific product knowledge
