The role holder will underwrite within Friends Life’s philosophy, offering a competitive decision to the customer by gathering all relevant information when available whilst ensuring all decisions are appropriate to the commercial risk presented.
Responsibilities
To make full use of the TeleUnderwriting call in order to probe and gather all relevant information to make the correct commercial decision whilst the client is on the phone.
Underwrite new and existing applications in line with Friends Life’s philosophies and principles, ensuring decisions made are appropriate to the commercial risk and within own personal Underwriting authority levels.
Build and develop positive learning relationships with TeleUnderwriters and less experienced Underwriters by explaining, with the appropriate level of detail, the reasons for decisions made.
Use technical expertise to identify and lead on opportunities to improve TeleUnderwriting & Underwriting efficiency and effectiveness.
Mentor Coach and Train TeleUnderwriters and less experienced Underwriters to develop the required skills and knowledge enabling achievement of appropriate levels of Underwriting Accreditation.
Proactively enhance and evidence underwriting technical knowledge keeping abreast of industry, Underwriting and medical developments and advances.
Proactively support Underwriting Team Manager and Underwriting Operational Manager in the ongoing development and operational running of the Underwriting department.Knowledge,

In depth understanding of medical terminology and ability to interpret medical and financial information.
Extensive knowledge of Life, Income Protection, Critical Illness and Payment Protection products and their features.
Proven underwriting experience

Salary of up to £40016 per annum depending on experience.
Annual performance related pay review and bonus.
