Barnet Council is entering a year of transformation. Through its One Barnet programme, the way services are delivered is changing, whether through partnerships with the private sector or through new and innovative operating modes.
The roles of Senior Management Accountant are based in Strategic Finance and Financial Services. These roles are instrumental in leading on the delivery of financial support to budget holders in their respective service areas. You will be responsible for taking responsibility for providing sound financial advice to managers, including at the most senior level and ensure that effective and proactive support is available and provided to front line services at all times.
Whilst not essential, full AAT qualification or CCAB part-qualification is desirable. You will have a thorough understanding of current local authority accounting requirements (such as the Code of Practice, SeRCOP). You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to challenge and influence at a senior level in order to facilitate improvements in service delivery.
These roles are within the finance team which will support the Council in its journey to become a commissioning organisation, which places the customer at its centre.
