NTEC is located in its own Pavement Research Building with world-class laboratory facilities to undertake state-of-the-art testing of bitumen, asphalt, concrete, aggregates, recycled and other paving materials as well as pilot-scale pavements and rail track structures. It is active in a broad range of areas including roads, airfields, port and other specialist pavements, railways, performance and asset management, hydraulic engineering applications, sustainable construction, environmental impact and transport systems. NTEC currently has a portfolio of research worth over £6 million with funding from a range of sources including EPSRC, the EU and industry. Research activities are underpinned by an EPSRC Platform Grant in pavement engineering and a multi-million pound research programme in Infrastructure Asset Management (IAM) jointly sponsored by Network Rail and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Candidates should have a proven international track record of achievement in research and team leadership, an exemplary publication record, and the ability to develop and manage large projects. In addition, candidates should be proven leaders, with the capability to produce and implement multidisciplinary research strategies with a successful history of attracting external research funding.
