The Practice is one of the UK’s leading providers of primary health care and operates a growing network of GP surgeries and healthcare centres throughout the UK. The Practice believes strongly in innovative community-based healthcare and delivers specialist clinical services directly to the community so that patients can be treated closer to home. Our services include ophthalmology, ENT and dermatology. We are commissioned predominantly by the NHS and other public sector bodies but have also recently been commissioned by the private sector to provide healthcare services into immigration removal centres.

We employ more than 600 clinical and non clinical personnel across 50 sites nationwide.

We are looking for a part-time Practice Nurse to join our friendly, committed and enthusiastic team. Brighton Homeless Healthcare is a unique General Practice located in the centre of Brighton which cares for 1050 patients who are either street homeless, vulnerably housed, or travellers. Our patients often have a complex mixture of mental illness, addiction problems, and advanced physical problems.

The position would be 2 sessions every Tuesday. We use SystmOne clinical system. Previous experience in practice nursing would be preferred, although any candidates with a particular interest in working with this patient group would be considered.

Our practice nurses are involved in almost every aspect of patient care, including health promotion, wound care, compression bandaging, childhood immunisations, cytology and Chronic Disease Management in line with QOF targets. We would be happy to offer training where necessary, but would expect applicants to have experience in a majority of these areas. Given the small team we have here, we will be looking for someone with an ability to work autonomously and to take initiative.

The closing date given is a guide. We reserve the right to close the post early once we have received a sufficient number of applicants, so we advise you to submit your application early to avoid disappointment.

We regret that we are unable to respond to all applications. If you have not heard from us within 3 weeks of the closing date please assume that you are unsuccessful on this occasion.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
