Job Description

Role Purpose:
Apprenticeship role to create and implement designs for web pages, email, mobile sites, online advertising and other projects as required across the portfolio of more than 30 live websites across Europe. This role is principally a visual and graphic design role working in a close team of designers with different strengths and backgrounds and offers a great opportunity to develop commercial web design experience in a major eCommerce organisation.

Design functionality to deliver against provided business requirements, working with product managers and web developers to create and refine optimal design

Ensure that the user interface designs fulfil the business requirements and that the architecture supports them

Create and design graphic elements to support email and online promotional purposes

Support for projects/work streams in the absence of other creative team members

Help obtain business stakeholder buy-in for the proposed designs

Meet the objectives and performance goals as defined in the business requirements document. Ensure that other team members understand the implications of functional and usability requirements.

Ensure designs are brand compliant, confirming to the overall TC group and individual brand identity and strategy, which could include logos, icons, and documents and other asset templates.

Design background and strong portfolio in e-commerce design with a thorough understanding of typography, layout, colour, user interface and navigation

Confidence working with other design staff and vendors

Ability to work from rudimentary briefs to deliver a creative solution for what can be complex business requirement

Excellent understanding of web usability, accessibility and email best practice

Extensive experience designing pages for a significant consumer e-commerce presence

Proven track record of using data to drive design

First-hand experience with usability testing of designs

Design background in online travel preferred

Experience designing SEO-optimised pages strongly preferred

Skills with XHTML+CSS

Working knowledge of web usability, accessibility & user experience

Experience with interaction design and key tools (Axure, Visio, etc)

Travel industry experience strongly preferred

Experience designing marketing emails and/or online ads

Experience designing mobile sites or applications

Educated to degree level

GCSE (A* - C) Mathematics and English Language
