Hudson’s client is a global financial services business based in Edinburgh.
Due to a recent internal move there is now an opportunity for a Senior Business Partner to join the business in a permanent capacity.
The role will form a key part of the Retail Finance division with a key focus on banking products such as Loans & Mortgages. As an integral part of the business work you will work with the MDs, Executives and Senior Managers in UK Retail to define the strategy for their business areas and assist with its translation into deliverable actions plans (with tangible measures of success).
Key Responsibilities
- Key responsibility is to support the business in making decisions by providing financial insights into competitor/market activity, financial/operational performance and making proactive recommendations around levers which the relevant business area controls such as pricing, sales force efficiency and service levels.
- For strategic investments, provide input to the formulation of ideas, support and challenge around the relevant assumptions and options. Also ensure appropriate investment appraisal, monitoring and tracking of all initiatives.
- Responsible for ensuring our strategies make correct trade offs between key performance metrics (e.g. pricing, sales volumes, service levels, efficiency) and support delivery of strategic objectives.
- Own the overall delivery of the budget for Mortgages and Loans, both in terms of process and in financial delivery of the numbers.
- Develop forecasting context for the business partners, garnering input from:-
- Economic inputs, market inputs, previous business strategy, portfolio performance, relevant constraints etc.
- Using this input, agree appropriate set of base assumptions, including appropriate options for scenarios around this base.
- Ensure, in conjunction with the relevant SSF Financial Controller appropriate governance/controls are in place and adhered to.
- Business delivery and financial performance – Deliver sustainable results to set the foundation for continued growth.
Individual
- Previous experience of building a strong working relationship based on trust and earning confidence of the relevant Executives and Senior Managers as well as actively engaging and developing contacts through out the business
- Experience in influencing decision making at all levels within an organisation, particularly Executive level.
- Ability to collaborate across functions and business areas.
- Qualified accountant (at least 7 years post qualifying experience) or MBA / CFA with appropriate experience.
