We have an opportunity for a research associate/assistant (part-time at 50%) within the Institute of Informatics and Digital Innovation, Edinburgh Napier University under a research project sponsored by Lawrence Ho Fund. This project involves the development of a model for green, sustainable and personalisable e-business services so that smaller businesses can take the advantage of emerging cloud technology and infrastructure. This project would build on existing strength in service oriented research in Edinburgh Napier University combined with two project partners:
Tsinghua – a top university of China, and Siemens China – a leading company in IT Services and Clouds.
The position will be available from 1 June 2012.
The Centre of Information & Software Systems at IIDI focuses on vigorous research on cloud computing services, service adaptation and evolution, and information visualisation. It is internationally recognized and maintains close links to other leading institutions world-wide.
Skills/qualifications required: You are expected to have a minimum of a postgraduate degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, preferably has involved in PhD study and gained some research experience from it. To be successful you will have a working knowledge of cloud computing, service-oriented architecture and software evolution. Ideally, you have experience in research or development of cloud computing services or other relevant software systems.
