An exciting opportunity within an established biotechnology company in the Cambridge area who provide research support to drug discovery programmes within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Joining the growing diagnostics team as a Scientist within cell culture / histology you will support the generation, testing and development of company products.

Key Responsibilities:
v Perform laboratory techniques including: PCR, DNA sequencing, cell culture, and nucleic acid extraction

v Handle FFPE (formalin-fixed paraffin embedded) tissues

v Design and develop assays as required

v Perform quality tests on company products

v Prepare QC documentation

v Use of scientific databases

v Communicate laboratory results with the Team Leader

v Update SOPs as required

v Ensure all duties carried out are in compliance with company SOPs and GLP.

v Maintain accurate and comprehensive records for all activities.

Ideal candidates will be Degree educated or equivalent in Biological Sciences, preferably cell or molecular biology, with proven industrial experience of nucleic acid extraction, DNA sequencing, PCR, and cell culture. Experience of using FFPE (formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissues) and nucleic acid extraction within a hospital or clinical laboratory environment would be a distinct advantage.

Attention to detail and good organisation is essential, and candidates must demonstrate the ability to work individually as well as within a team environment.
