Our Client, a housing contractor is currently recruiting for a Project Manager working within the Highways Arm. Primarily the right candidate will manage and supervise the project team in delivering planned Highways projects, Civil Engineering projects and other specialist client projects in line with policy and budget. Ensure that KPIs are met whilst ensure this is not to the detriment of a quality customer focused service to all stakeholders.
Outside of this there will be an expectation to develop and bring together new relationships to retain and seek new business opportunities.
Key Accountabilities:
Carry out negotiations with client departments of the Council and other external bodies for the maintenance of an even flow of work for Projects.
In liaison with the Support Manager, Human Resources and Purchasing sections, co-ordinate the material supplies, labour and plant returns, job cards and other contractual documentation for the execution of the contract.
Direct the team in the allocation of staff, plant labour and equipment for the execution of works within the performance and cost criteria of the contract.
Control, collate, process and verify time sheets, job cards, plant and vehicle sheets, and other documents relevant to the works.
Organise regular liaison with staff on all operational / administrative matters with a view to ensuring that a high quality service is delivered to the client / customer.
Together with the surveyor assigned to the contract, monitor variances and ensure that requests for variation orders and claims for delay or extensions are promptly and effectively pursued and valued.
Together with the surveyor assigned to the contract, carry out monitoring of the financial performance including a CVR if required and take appropriate corrective action where required.
Support Business Development in the preparation of documents and tenders.
Organise and control any sub-contractors engaged within the Team.
Ensure that the Team is aware of, and complies with, all relevant Health and Safety legislation and that safe working practices and methods are maintained at all times.
Oversee the development of the Team to meet the general policy objectives of the Company with particular reference to equal opportunities and equalities
Identify any training and development needs within the Team and endeavour to meet those needs in liaison with the Training Section and in accordance with the Investors in People policy.
Maintain good employee relations within the group ensuring that the company industrial relations policies are adhered to. As and when required to do so, follow agreed procedures for the resolution of grievances and disciplinary hearings.
Monitor and inspect the quality and quantity of work completed to ensure the standards required are maintained and that satisfactory output is achieved.
In conjunction with the appropriate QS, ensure all works are invoiced correctly, carry out pricing and quotations for small works and monitor the financial position.
In partnership with the QS, manage the preparation of tender bids, interim and final valuations and contractual claims.
Ensure a strict adherence to statutory requirements, regulations and codes of practice, ensuring an effective and efficient level of service provision at all times.
