Java Developers – Glasgow and Edinburgh
Sopra Group is seeking to recruit a number of Java Developers, to join our project teams in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Location – Glasgow and Edinburgh, but must be flexible to travel to client sites

Main Features of the Role
The developer will work as part of a team either to deliver bespoke solutions or to develop enhancements to existing applications.

Responsibilities will include:
Understanding the client’s requirements, in order to define and size the effort required Contributing to further analysis of these requirements resulting in a proposed solution design Development and unit testing of the solution Support of system tests and user acceptance testing. The Developer must have strong communication skills in order to work with client staff and ensure that there is a clear, shared understanding of the end functionality required.
Experience Required

Applicants must have experience of the following:
Extensive skills with the Spring Framework Automated Unit Testing Experience of Maven based build and deployments to multiple operating systems and industry standard Java application servers, WebLogic, WebSphere, OC4J, JBoss and TomcatTest Driven Development and Continuous Integration JEE skills including web application and server-side development with N-tier Java applications, presentation technologies such as HTML, CSS, JSF, MVC, JSP and Servlets and integration with EJB, Web Service and JMS specifications. Strong integration skills based on XML and SOAP Web Service frameworks such as Spring Web Service and XMLBeans Comprehensive framework based data access and database experience including SQL, PLSQL, Oracle, JDBC, Spring JDBC and object relational mapping frameworks such as JPA, Hibernate or TopLink UML and object orientated techniques and tools Agile Development Approaches including but not limited to SCRUM.
