Our client is a well known organisation based throughout Northern Ireland. A position has arisen for Class 2 Operator to join their team in the Larne/Carrick area on a 3 month basis.

The main duties and responsibilities will be as follows:
Operate water treatment plant and sludge treatment works in accordance with set instructions and operational manuals
Carry out checks throughout the catchment including the checking and cleaning of intakes, screens and raw water pipelines and aqueducts and impounding reservoirs.
Sample and analyse water quality through the works
Adjust and monitor chemical dosing in accordance with set parameters
Collate and monitor performance data to ensure compliance with Key Performance Indicators and Drinking Water Quality Regulations
Carry out low level maintenance and low level remedial work
Checking and signing off deliveries of fuels, chemicals, sludge loads and other plant delivered to site
Carry out and report on site security inspections
Report and ensure compliance with the Environmental Management System for both in-house and contracted activities
Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and procedures
Problem solving and decision making through the use of standards, procedures, established regulations, precedent and using innovative and creative thinking to resolve complex issues
Administrative duties as delegated by Line Management
Other general duties affecting the operation of the treatment plant and catchment as required by Line Management.
Attendance / work at other Water Supply sites as required by Management to provide cover.
The post holder will be required to work outside normal working hours on weekdays, weekends and public and privilege holidays.
The post holder will be required to take part in an on-call rota and attend site(s) in the case of emergencies.

Essential Criteria
In addition to satisfying the above criteria, applicants will also be expected to display the following qualities and skills in their application form and at interview:
Knowledge of the Health & Safety requirements relating to water treatment
The ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team;
Computer literacy skills and willing to undertake further IT training.
Experience and/or knowledge of water treatment processes
Ability to work as a team and use their own initiative in a complex and challenging environment
Salary will be £8.86 per hour and will be paid weekly.
