Client: Global engineering company within the oil and gas industry. A world leader in the design and manufacture of products for offshore applications within the oil and gas industry. This role is a requirement to support the business growth of our client and is part of the business plan to continue to make significant investments in equipment, training, continuous improvement, research and development and personnel.
Role: The project Engineer directs, coordinates and completes engineering requirements and activities on assigned projects. The project Engineer has full responsibility on client projects. The project engineer will work closely with the assigned project manager for the duration of each project.
Key tasks:
- Review of customer specifications and bid documents in order that the product design meets the Client's requirements whilst keeping costs within the required budget as set by the bid.
- Identifying any possible Variation Order Requests after review of specification and throughout the duration of contract.
- To generate bills of materials & procurement specifications in order to start the manufacturing process.
- Creation and maintenance of engineering project files.
- Design calculations as required proving designs being produced are fit for purpose and meet company and industry standards.
- Arrange for Dynamic Analysis and other calculations out with internal current capabilities to be performed, Analyse results, create and submit reports to clients.
- Liaise with project managers to ensure schedules and targets are being met.
- Attendance at regular progress / interface meetings with customers to ensure their requirements are being met.
- Review & approval of x-section drawings, general assemblies and detailed drawings ensuring that company and industry standards are being maintained.
- Creation of specifications relating to the production process, including assembly specifications, test and termination details and qualifications.
- Liaise with sub-suppliers to ensure requirements are clearly understood and are being met.
- Solving of production and manufacturing problems as they arise in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring documentation is revised and re-issued as appropriate.
- Implement improvement initiatives, including using the Internet to source alternative suppliers and technical sources.
Person Spec (higher weighting more important)
- 10 - Solid work experience in Project Engineering roles
- 10 - Experience of working in an engineered-to-order, high-value, low-volume, capital goods manufacturing environment, where strong project management is critical
- 9 - Excellent communicator - up, down, and peers - verbal, written, listener, influencer, and good formal presenter
- 9 - Computer literate - proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages as well as MS Project
- 8 - Experience dealing with clients and suppliers on a frequent basis
- 9 - Experience developing technical documentation for proposal and sales
- 8 - Qualifications - degree in Engineering discipline preferred
- 8 - Multi - tasker - capable of managing multiple projects at one time
- 7 - Ideally a strong process and/or low volume manufacturing engineering background
- 7 - Experience with continuous improvement tools and techniques - with 6-sigma, Lean-sigma, or Lean certification.
