Yorkshire Water manages the collection, treatment and distribution of water around the Yorkshire region, supplying around 1.24 billion litres of drinking water each day - that's a lot of water. To help us achieve our vision of 'taking responsibility for the water environment for good we currently have a vacancy for a Contract Services Team Leader (TMA) to work at our Buttershaw Site, Bradford. The Contract Team you will be joining is part of the Network Optimisation Team and provides bespoke contract solutions for the Customer Service and Networks Business Unit. We aim to optimise our partner service delivery at best value. The role will provide a voice for Yorkshire Water in respect of street work legislation and our impacts on the public highway as well as managing a team responsible for the implementation of related legislation and administration of the Traffic Management Act.
The wider Network Optimisation Team (NOT) is the team that monitors our water and sewer network to ensure we provide a safe water supply 24/7, take away waste water to be treated and resolve any operational issues immediately. It involves maintaining our networks and assets to deliver a service 24/7, through investigation of customer issues to ensure a high standard of regulatory compliance, such as leakage monitoring, flood and pollution mitigation. These front line teams look after the day-to-day operations, responsible for the distribution and collection systems, delivering our services through leading edge technologies and telemetry. Our Network Optimisation Teams work closely with key partners to ensure that failures on our networks are rectified efficiently and with minimal customer impact.
What is the purpose of the role?
As a Contract Services Team Leader (TMA) you will be accountable for overseeing, management and safeguarding Yorkshire Water's obligations in relation to street works legislation.
What will your role involve?
Your role provides a vital point of reference to Yorkshire Water, Street Authorities, Partners and other Utilities for street work matters related to the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA) and associated Codes of Practice.
Your in-depth knowledge will help deliver a coordinated, planned, effective and articulate response to NRSWA and the TMA across Yorkshire Water and its partners. This involves ensuring Yorkshire Water and partners comply with the varied aspects of associated legislation, presenting detailed work programmes to Street Authorities and effectively mitigating any risks associated with existing and new legislation and/or changes to Codes of Practice. In addition, you will lead the performance of an extended team who have responsibility for the effective administration of work notifications between Yorkshire Water and each Street Authority, together with the delivery of an extensive and flexible audit regime specifically designed to monitor all aspects of street work activities.
You will have the opportunity to positively influence the excellent reputation of Yorkshire Water through regular interactions with Street Authorities, other Utilities and within regional and national committee's. Interactions will involve demonstrating our levels of compliance across the varied aspects of street work legislation, discussing and agreeing solutions to address areas of non-compliance, and creating and delivering initiatives designed to inform good practice.
What skills are we looking for?
You will have the ability to demonstrate technical expertise, enabling debate and positive influence on all matters relating to NRSWA and the TMA.
You will be required to influence and negotiate outcomes that are of benefit to YW and will represent the face of YW when interacting with key stakeholders, Street Authorities and other Utilities. It is therefore important that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In addition, it is necessary for you to have good IT and analytical skills in order to effectively monitor performance.
