This is a great opportunity to be a part of a new purchasing function within Glasgow. The role will help bring expertise and specialisim to the mechanical purchasing discipline.

Primary Purpose of the role Contribute to the derivation and delivery of the Purchasing Machining Family strategy in conjunction with the Machining Family network and other stakeholders, as appropriate.Undertake commercial and contractual tasks as required, including negotiation and agreement of Framework Agreements, Purchase Contracts, Statements Of Work, Non Disclosure agreements etc. Working closely with other functions as necessary, manage all purchasing aspects of delegated Bid and Project work packages for machining suppliers, to ensure packages are executed in accordance with technical, program, cost and performance (quality and delivery) requirements. Manage risks and opportunities.Undertake the Supplier Group Account Manager (SGAM) or Supplier Account Manager (SAM) role, as appropriate, for one or more Machining Family Target suppliers. Ensure Purchasing Family resource effectiveness by employing suitable reporting, tracking and performance management tools and techniques.

Key tasks and accountabilities § Ensure the Purchasing machining strategies are being delivered through the day to day actions § Play a key role in the Forward Looking Commitment Review process to identify and execute opportunities § Ensure relevant governance is complied with, including Delegation Of Authority, Acquisition Log process and Purchase Order approval § Ensure site/Hub Family Buyer resources comply with supplier panel policies (e.g. addition and removal of Family suppliers) § Record and report savings in accordance with established guidelines § Participate in MYB process as required § Contribute to the Make/Team/Buy process§ Promote early involvement of Family Purchasing and suppliers in Bids, Projects and Product design § Contribute to the capture and sharing of all site/Hub information required, such as Purchasing Family actual and forecast spend, suppliers, performance, current and future requirements. Ensure that the UK Purchasing Family/CTA strategy takes account of site/Hub Purchasing Family characteristics and needs § Participate in and represent the site/Hub at Family Buyer network events § Using Category Management techniques participate in the derivation of Purchasing CTA strategies that: -o Address internal and external customer requirementso Take account of current/desired technical, program, cost and performance requirements § Facilitate early engagement of Purchasing Family suppliers in site/Hub bids and projects, as appropriate § Execute all purchasing aspects of delegated Bid and Project work packages § Ensure machining work packages are executed achieving favourable conditions and consistency with technical, program, cost and performance (quality and delivery) requirements § Engage and communicate efficiently with internal customers and other functions as necessary in executing work packages. § Ensure appropriate Supplier Relationship Management and Performance Management techniques are employed with Purchasing Machining Family suppliers § Work with Supplier Engineering to drive supplier performance improvement. § Work with Technical teams to resolve design issues impacting on supplier performance § Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with relevant Thales policies

Experience and Skills · Team management and leadership · Communication and presentation · Interpersonal at all organizational levels, internal and external · Experience in mid to senior level purchasing/procurement and machining commodity experience · Manufacturing process expertise for some or all of machining, interconnect and coating processes. · Major development/manufacture sub-contract program/project management experience · Analytical skills · Technical and commercial Purchasing Family knowledge · Experienced in using ERP systems · Commercially astute with advanced negotiation skills and experience · Well-developed organisational skills

Education & Qualifications · Business or Engineering degree, or equivalent would be desirable · MCIPS qualified or studying towards would be desirable · High standards of numeracy and literacy
